The passing shoppers were very receptive to the postal workers and willingly signed the petition asking the Government to honour its 2005 general election manifesto commitment which was re-iterated at the Warwick 2 agreement, to keep the Post Office wholly owned by the public, the proposed 30% stake in our company by a potential foreign postal operator was a catalyst for consistent condemnation of the Labour Party. The CWU Regional Secretary Paul Clays was in attendance, busily campaigning and he stated the superb response from the public in Hull was typical to what was happening all over the UK, such is the high esteem the postal workers and the role of the Post Office in society are held in The following day local under 16s boys football team Trades Union Congress FC showed their support for the 'Keep the Post Public' and hoped the Prime Minister will be listening to public opinion and remove the idea of privatisation. Everybody who attended felt the campaign was very successful and rewarding with 761 signatories being collected on the day- Andy Parrish Photos taken by Andy Parrish & Alan Ring
